That was a long break!

Well it feels like deja vu – the nights get lighter and I get back out into the garden, then I remember I have a gardening blog! Last year was another tough year – I had some health issues and dealing with that and some other things really took their toll on me mentally – I don’t think I updated the blog even one time. The garden was still my refuge. The place I could go and relax or scream at the sky (or the local cats who I am in an ongoing battle with), the place to just be.

I’m sure I’m just talking to myself here, so no promises or grand gestures. I will come on and write when I need to.

No vegetables this year – last year was terrible apart from the pea harvest and two pumpkins so we’re having a year off and just doing flowers this year. I have a raised bed planted up which was inspired by RHS Bridgewater’s tulip display from last year – fingers crossed it all comes up! I planted the bulbs back in November and they’ve been covered up in a raised bed ever since (see previous comment about cats!) but very soon it will be time to put a cage over them and release them from their winter slumber.

Other spring bulbs have started to emerge and they’ve been positioned in front of the window near where I work so I will get a lot of joy from that. Here are a few shots of the patio in this beautiful bright sunshine we’ve had this week.

Hellebores are one of my favourite plants and I’m so happy to see that some of them have survived.

The crocuses are in full bloom and the daffodils are on the way.

Happy March!!
